  • i'm 1/4 of a century old.

and already, i'm a little bit wiser.  or so i'd like to think...

no one's ever too cool for anything.  everyone's the same, but some people are just too pretentious to believe it.

i'm not too cool to admit that i'd very much like to wear my cowboy boots later on this day, the day of my birth.

and i'm listening to christmas music.  how you like dem apples?

    Young Love

They say for every boy and girl
There's just one love in this whole world
And I know I've found mine
The heavenly touch of your embrace
Tells me no one could take your place
    Ever in my heart

Young love (young love), first love (first love)
    Filled with true devotion
Young love (young love), our love (our love)
    We share with deep emotion

Just one kiss from your sweet lips
Will tell me that your love is real
And I can feel that it's true
We will vow to one another
    There will never be another
Love for you or for me

Young love (young love), first love (first love)
    Filled with true devotion
Young love (young love), our love (first love)
    We share with deep emotion

  • thoughts and happenings as of now

i'm struggling to learn how to play the guitar.  also, i'm smooshing and stirring up my brain to write songs.  i'll let you know how that goes.

glorious music finds: priscilla ahn, lily allen, gillian grassie, theresa andersson (thanks, jt!)

i also stumbled across emiliana torrini for the first time in forever.  her voice is a dream.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyuL1z2tejs

    *******

everyone on facebook seems to be writing up their "25 things."  they're great to read, but i keep getting tagged, and i really don't want to do one (especially since i already did one when it was just 16 things and not 25).

countdown: 31 days until closing date.  my heart's floating inside a balloon.

  • necessary update (or not)

This semester, I'm learning to have some me-time.  It feels like it's been so long since I've been able to just forget about school responsibilities and do things that relax me.  No classes.  Until medical school in the fall.

Sean and I bought a house in Moore.  Actually, right behind our backyard fence is Oklahoma City, but our house is in Moore.  It's a cozy little house, brand new, and we close on March 11th.  I've been craze over picking paint colors and imagining different decorative ideas for all the rooms.  3 bed, 2 bath; the kitchen is cute (our pantry is adorable and BIG); 2 car garage.  I guess we'll start moving in about a month, and I can't seem to get myself to do any cleaning chores--mostly laundry--in this stinky old apartment.

Regina and John Paul got engaged (finally), and both Sean & I are going to be in the wedding.  I'm really excited to help Regi out.  I went with her and her sisters to dress shop at David's Bridal, and she vows to never go back there again.  Hah.  We'll help her find something perfect, eventually.

I've been writing some lyrics to songs.  I actually should try to dig up some poems that I've written in the past and try to put music to them.  Sarah came to visit yesterday, and we spent most of the day working on one of her songs.  Jen Rickard came and joined in to sing for us, I played the piano, and Sarah played the guitar.  Sean joined in, too, to critique and play another guitar part.  It was really fun and inspiring... so hopefully I'll have some songs written, too.

Latest musician crushes: Lisa Hannigan (as always), Kate Nash, The Bird and the Bee

Up until recently, female musicians never really made it on my mix CDs.  Now, they are all that I listen to.  I'm not sure what it is.  I guess maybe that listening to boys sing used to feed my fantasies of a relationship.  Listening to girls sing about things... I can relate to these songs more.  It's a nice change.

Sarah got me obsessed with the Twilight saga.  I just bought the fourth book at Sam's yesterday, and I'm almost dreading to read it because I know that it's the end of the series, and I don't want it to end.  And now I must finish this by saying: I <3 Edward Cullen.  ('omg ew puke'... I know.)

  • friends and foes

    well, mainly just friends.

now that i'm getting to know everyone better, they all seem to be leaving.  sad.

deepa's going away to england.  nicole's going to spain.  cherissa's going to italy.  vibitha's moving back to okc (which might as well be india).

i do get to see vibi next year, though, since we are going to be classmates.  and when sean and i move to okc, i won't be able to see regi too often.

    ***

a bittersweet surprise:  i got an interview offer to the medical college of wisconsin.  i didn't take it.  it's exciting that i was wanted somewhere that was not in oklahoma.  it is sort of sad that i don't consider the school better than ou, and i will be staying in oklahoma.

next semester, i might just enroll in chorale and try to be a student employee for the sooner yearbook.  that would be the most perfect semester ever!  we'll see how that works out, though.
